In Montessori we work to identify and scaffold children’s ‘Sensitive Periods’, those windows of opportunity during which the child may acquire a new skill based on an innate curiosity. This will be enabled by a well prepared environment, offering real opportunities to conquer these skills.
We provide healthy snacks available throughout the whole morning cycle. The Preparation of Snack is an important activity of the Practical Life area, bringing the child closer to new ways of eating that may include new ingredients, shapes, tastes and dishes. Eating alongside a friend or two often brings up interesting conversations so the Snack table is also considered a key ‘talking hotspot’, an opportunity to socialise around the celebration of food.
In 2020 we decided to take a complete new turn and commit to a new food approach. Our menu, carefully planned, cooked and delivered by @PatriciasLiving includes the following:
- Seasonal organic food, locally produced and sourced when possible.
- A well balanced menu that is sugar free, low on salt and only uses homemade sauces.
- A wide range of dishes, often featuring other cultures and traditions.
- The possibility to choose a Vegan menu.
